A feather in your cap and some scraplings

So my dad got a wild turkey a few days ago and brought the feathers over for the kids, then I hem a pair of my jeans and leave the bottom part I cut off next to my sewing machine. The next thing I know my 7 year old has made this great headress and she even helped her little brother make one too! Kids are so funny, Elaina then says hey can you take a picture and put it on your blog and tell everyone I made this myself? So I am doing my proud mother duty and posting! I also thought I would share these little cutie "scraplings" that took about 5 minutes to make just using Colonial White cardstock and this month's SOTM "Share The Magic" Some quick coloring and these would make cute little enclosure cards. I plan on making a few sets for my upcoming vendor fair in November.

2 Verve Sketch cards

I am in a huge hurry right now as I type this so please pardon any mistakes or exclusions! I made these 2 cards following two Verve sketches (2&3) from their World card making day release challenge which can be found here! EDIT: Okay I made it back, I just wanted to let you know some of the supplies I used, for the first card I used some tan bazzill(old) and some luscious chocolate flocked paper from I have no idea where! I used a Verve Plain Jane Scripture stamp, and the Just For You is also from Verve and the flourish is from Playful Flourishes from CTMH, everything was stamped in Versamark and embossed with Obsidian ep. The pearls are CTMH and the great glittery book plate is from Making Memories and the ribbon is from my stash! I realized later I have to do something different before I mail this card though because my Scotch ATG tape does not seem to be sticking to the flocking on the patterned paper! The second card uses new paper from Making Memories and the stamp ss is retired from CTMH. The Rose is from Prima and the ribbon and button are from my stash. The star is embossed with gold ep!

dinosaurs and sewing

Well this is not a papercraft post, but I will have one of those later today. This is a homeschooling post, this week my younger kids are studying the letter D so we have decided to turn that into Dino-week we have tons of great projects planned. Since we are Christians who believe the Bible, we also believe in a literal 6 day creation as well as we believe in a young earth(about 6000 yrs old) and hence this is what we teach our children and there really is some great biblical/scientific info about dinosaurs out there! So to kick off our week we did this cool little dino in a volcano project from Michaels, I as a 32 year old woman was highly amuzed watching this little volcano erupt, who knew science could be so fun? I also had to share Elaina's 1st "official" sewing project that was not just using mommy scraps! We bought her this little critter kit, she loved it and was done in about 15 minutes, and then she asked me "hey can you put these on your blog? The child does not have confidence issues atleast. I think she is ready to move on to something more advanced now! I am thrilled to see how much she loves to do anything crafty and she certainly has a knack for it.

Heart2Heart Challenges-A birthday bash

Happy Monday all, I hope you all can check out Heart 2 Heart today for another great challenge; make a birthday themed project. My fellow design team members have made some beautiful work to inspire you! For my project I used the beautiful new Magnifique paper, Unity SS, and new colors-Lagoon & Pacifica, the Happy birthday sentiment is from the Annotations SS, I also used lots of sparkles and I sprayed my flowers with some glimmer mist but it won't pick up on camera! The cute little gift box was made using measurements from a tutorial found here, you could fill it with votives or candy or whatever you can think of! Then I found this little cutie gift bag that matched perfectly, so I just random stamped on it and ther you go a little birthday set! October MFT

Here is a card I made for a MFT challenge, you were to use Rasberry, Lime Green, Aqua, and yellow was optional. Of course what fits that description perfectly but Cosmos DeLovely paper, I also used Jolinne Just For You from MFT is she not a sweetie? Her dress is paper pieced and she was colored with Copics. I also used the cut grass Die-Namic die from MFT and cut out some Lime Green felt grass how fun is that? Now on to prepare supper, Delomonico Steaks from our beefers, baked potatos which we grew, and applesauce we canned from apples that grow on our land!

Heart to Heart Card drive

Hello and happy Sunday everyone, I got some crafty time today and the 1st card I want to share is a special one! This card was made for Carolyn King's Heart to Heart card drive in honor of her grandmother who passed away from Alzheimers. She has a ton of sponsors who are donating a ton of prizes to one lucky person over $1000.00 in value, you just have to make a card to give to a caregiver of Alzheimers patients! You can find all the info here! This is especially important to me because my husbands grandmother just passed away last Monday from this horrible disease! So make a card to help someone feel appreciated! I used Sassafrass-Indie girl paper, the sentiment stamp is from Verve, the leaf stamp is from Endless Friendship from CTMH, the flower was cut from the Cricut(George and Basic shapes) and button, sparkles and hemp are CTMH.

A penguin card and a Thanksgiving favor

All right I really have been doing some scrappy stuff I just have not had time to post it! So here is a Penguin card I made using my new Cosmo -Mitten Weather paper, lots of pearls from CTMH, my Spellbinders, a little glitter and a cheapy stamp from Wal-Mart from last winter that I got on clearance for .80 cents! Then the favor box is what I made with a free turorial from The Southern Stamper from September 4th(I could not find a deep URL for this post) anyways this is just my sample box I am going to try to make a whole bunch of different ones with different papers and clear tops and maybe even some with candles. We have Thanksgiving at my house and I thought these would make adorable favors/place cards. I used new paper called Apple Cider, a studio g Stamp set, Chocolate Alphabet(CTMH) and November Word Puzzle(CTMH) bakers twine from MS and an Autumn Terracotta button from CTMH and Hershey nuggets!
