How cool is this?

Okay as you probably can tell it does not take alot to get me excited, but when I see all the really cool stuff people do with vinyl it got me to thinking. I have a Cricut and tons of cartridges and the Cricut cuts out vinyl so hello! So I went to Wal-mart and bought me some black vinyl and a cool glass jar and came home and made this in about 10 minutes! It was so easy, so now you know I will probably be going vinyl crazy for the next month or so, but we buy our spelt flour in bulk and I wanted to store it in something cuter than a Ziploc bag and I have succeeded! Happy crafting everyone!

A SFYTT & H&M stamps card

This card is for Jen Del Muro's Sketch For You To Try Challenge over at her blog. I really liked this sketch quick and simple! I used patterned paper from CTMH'S Felicity kit(unavailable) and the images are from H&M Stamps which sadly is no longer in buisness! I colored with Prisma Colored pencils and Gamsol and brought out a long forgotten pumpkin embossing folder and a few Mocha pearls from CTMH!

A triple challenge-kinda

Well here I was last night after the kiddos went to bed thinking I should go upstairs and play so I did! I had to make a sympathy card and I had in my head that I wanted to do the JUGS(Just Us Girls) challenge to use the colors black, red, green and a nuetral. I also wanted to use the MOJO 157 sketch which I did and really like! However when I made it downstairs at 9:50 pm to take a picture and upload my card I realized I was to late for the JUGS challenge it ended at 9:00pm-seriously? Oh well not to fear I decided to play at Charisma Cardz for their challenge was simple-Anything goes-What, really, truely? I am in, so go check out Mojo Monday and Charisma Cards. I also found a new challenge site Creative Inspirations there challenge was to use 2 different stamped images. I used CTMH cardstock in Black, Colonial White, Tulip, and Olive, CTMH Olive ink and Endless Friendship SS, all those lovely pearls are CTMH as well! The sentiment is a beautiful Plain Jane from Verve, open scallop border die-namic from MFT, the flower is Prima and the ribbon American Crafts! I even broke out an embossing folder for this card but I for the life of me can't think of the name!

A double challenge

This card today is actually for both the card patterns sketch challenge but also for the Stampin'Sisters in Christ challenge to use fall colors and/or leaves so I thought I met that requirement! I used Passages paper from CTMH and the Hunting SS(retired, sorry) nothing says fall to me like hunting, in upstate NY where I live fall is marked by the begginning of hunting season especially for White tailed deer! So I thought this was the perfect card for someone who also loves hunting plus I just don't make to many masculine cards! I also used CTMH's watercolor pencils and blending pen to color! I actually redid this card about 4 times last night before I settled on this image but by then it was to dark to photograph. Today is also a sad day, we had our beef cattle hauled away to go to the butchers-okay so this is sad and yummy I mean happy, but my husband also lost his grandmother yesterday which is sad but also a blessing as she has been suffering with Althztheimers(sp/) for a few years! Just a reminder to hug someone you love today!

A gift tag and some pumpkin muffins

Wow ya know how sometimes it seems like everything is working against you? Anyways I have been trying to get together with my old neighbor Aubrey and her sweet parents who are up visiting from S.Carolina but stuff keeps happening, like for instance my 4 year old was sick all day yesterday .I did make a little something for them, we have canned about 60 some quarts of applesauce from our own apple trees, so I thought I would share the yumminess. I made a quick little tag to dress up the canning jar, I used paper from October Afternoon, and the ss is Tasty Treats from CTMH, I used the rolled flower Die-Namic die from MFT for the flower popped on a pearl and hand cut some leaves. The ribbon is American Crafts easy peasy. The other picture is of some yummy pumpkin muffins from some of the pumpkin we canned/froze yesterday. I love anything pumpkin and this time of the year I want to use it all the time. I hope to post something crafty later on in the day! See you soon!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge- Let's get sketchy

Happy Monday everyone, it's actually Sunday evening right now but I am scheduling this post for Monday morning so again happy Monday! It is time once again for a Heart 2 Heart Challenge, this week it's a sketch and as soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to make. Just ignore the little fact that I excluded the square that goes behind the circle in the sketch--oopsie sorry about that! I so hope that you go to the H2H blog this week before Sunday and join us in this challenge-sure to get your mojo flowing, and link up your creation to be eligble to win a great prize from our sponsor this week Kathy Robitaille check out her blog while your at it, I am sure you will find something wonderful to inspire you! Plus you might just get your self into the Friday Five, but if you don't play you can't win! For my card I used "Mistletoe" paper, in case you have not noticed I am in a Christmas mode. I also used the "Father Christmas" SS for the main image(You can read about my Santa opinion here)what is wrong with me? Anyhow I love the old world appeal of this image that I colored with watercolor pencils and the blending pen. I then did the cracked glass effect(a new fav technique)! I also changed the look of the normally pewter snowflake brads by sponging them with Timber Brown Staz-On to make them look more coppery(is that a word?) Okay enough blabber I am beat after a full day of canning/freezing 29 pints of pumpkin, cleaning pumpkin seeds, taking care of a puking 4 year old,a cranky teething 4month old and making coconut shrimp and garlic parmesean fries, I am tired;however on the bright side I am so thankful I have a family to do these things for, and thankful for my husband who is always right next to me working and who had to handle the 3 healthy, happy, rambuncious other children(I think he had the harder job today)! I will go to bed tired and blessed knowing that I spent the day with my family exactly as I should have!

One sketch, two cards

I found a new sketch blog and decided to play along this week the blog is called cardpatterns. I loved this weeks sketch so I decided to make 2 cards during craft time today, after all our hard work yesterday; canning 30 quarts of applesauce and 15 quarts of spaghetti sauce today is truly a day of rest. The blue card is using CTMH'S new Magnifique paper and the luscious new color Lagoon. the sentiment is a Plain Jane scripture stamp from Verve(I love Verve) and those amazingly cool flowers were made from plain Colonial White cardstock. I was inspired to make these by my fabby fellow Heart 2 Heart design team member Andrea Ewen and found the tutorial here. So simple to make and so easy to customize, I have lots of ideas for these bad boys!

Okay this Christmas card is so odd for me, at my house we don't do Santa, my kids don't believe and we have never pretended he exists so why you ask did I make a santa card? Well that is a good question, but for some strange reason I bought the "Father Christmas" ss from CTMH because there were some other images on there that I loved and somehow I ended up picking out this image for this challenge, and I don't know I guess I just love the vintagy/nostalgic feel of it and I went with it. I also used Mistletoe paper, Dimensional Elements snowflakes, Glitter brads, and pearls!

Pears anyone?

Well, last night was our pear canning extravaganza! We did not get started until 7:30 pm, because of course there was supper, and cleanup, a trip to camp to check on the cattle, baths, a bottle for the baby, and 4 other little ones to get ready for bed. We we did finally start we decided that everyone but the baby could stay up and "help", and what a great lesson for my kids. Now that I am not only their mom but their teacher as well, I really think about how everything we do is a lesson not only in schooling but in life! Anywho this is just a sampling of the pears we canned, we ended up with 32 quarts-woohoo way more than we expected. We also left the skins on the pears in the interest of not wanting to peel them, and of course my husband pointed out all the goodness of the skin, he even wanted to leave the seeds in, but I had to draw the line somewhere! If you want directions on how to can pears go here. In the middle of pears, I was struck by the fact that I needed to make my husband and kiddos a snack for today, so I made a batch of my amazing friend Aubrey's granola bars and still we had everything finished and cleaned up-I even mopped the floor all by 11:30pm. I am on such a canning and preparing for winter kick you would think I was a bear preparing for hibernation-lol! We have also made 21 quarts of wild applesauce from our own apple trees at camp and plan to can another 20 or so quarts tonight, and another batch of spaghetti sauce this weekend! Odd how with the years the things that bring you joy change so much, who would have ever thought I would LOVE to stay up half the night canning food? What have you canned this year?

Felt Flowers

Okay I think I saw this sketch somewhere, I think from The Cats Pajamas, I jotted it down but can't remember. Anyways I only had about 20 minutes to make a card and this is what I came up with! The picture is horrible sorry- it is very cloudy here today and my editing software is not cooperating. So in real life the lovely felt flowers are a stunning bright pink but on here-well not so much! I used the MFT rolled flower Die-Namics die and the felt was cheap from Wal-mart- I have the good stuff on my shopping list for my next MFT order. The paper is DeLovely from Cosmo and I used the Boutique Borders ss from CTMH along the edge of the circle, and the lovely scripture verse is from Verve. Simple and sweet! No to go prepare for this evenings festivities- canning pears- I am so excited and yes I know I am a dork!

Mojo Monday and Flopsey Bunny

It's MOJO time again, and I had time to play today! I used October Afternoon and the cutey little bunny stamp is Flopsey with Flowers from MFT and so is the Die-Namic I used to cut out the grass! I stamped the sentiment in new Sunset ink from CTMH. I used the MS butterfly punch as well as a tag punch.
