Happy 5th Birthday Evan

Okay here is a picture of my 2nd quilt, or maybe
3rd but I don't really call Elaina's blanket I made a quilt. This John Deere one is for my son, his 5th birthday is today. So the last few weeks have been crazy busy but I wanted to get it done so I stayed up late last night to finish it, he loves it and does not notice any imperfections. I am so thankful that the Lord has given me such pleasure and joy in homemaking. Now fall is on the way and I can not wait to turn on the fireplace and sew, scrapbook, and bake!

A cute boy and a light fixture

Last night was my son Evan's night to stay up and he fell asleep in the chair reading his "Northern Tool" magazine. Oh so cute I can not wait to scrap these pictures. The next picture is of my new light fixture in my dining room, I have wanted a new one for the last 5 years and finnally I got one and my dear sweet husband got up at 5:00 this morning to put it up for me, then I just added some bulbs and berry rings and voila! Thank you to Aubrey who showed me her JC Penny sale cattie where I found this awsome light on sale for $59.99 plus I got free shipping woo-hoo!

Here is my finished Quilt

Okay it is just a small one to throw over the couch and it has lot's of imperfections but it is mine and I am pretty impressed with my self for my 1st time! Thank you Aubrey for helping me so much. Now I want to make more to get better at it.

Simple Pleasures layout

A super quick and easy layout I made for my
uncle Doug. He saw a framed layout I had made for my mom of their parents wedding a few months ago and asked me to make him one. It took me forever to finally sit down and make it, and it went together in about 20 min. I used all CTMH products, Simple Pleasures paper, Frienship Alphabet(No longer available), brand new craft buttons, hemp, Foundry tabs and metal accessories. I just love the old vintage look of this paper pack with black and white or Sepia pictures!

A Sneak peek at my new found love.

Okay, this is the reason I have not been doing so much papercrafting lately. Here are a couple pictures of my 1st and 2nd quilts. These are just the tops, the pic on the top is called a disapearing 9 patch taught to me by my great neighbor and will be for the back of my couch. The other is for my son Evans b-day at the end of the month. I have so much to learn but I really enjoy all this sewing! I will post them again after they are finished!

Before & After

I re - upholstered my dining room chairs this morning here are the before and after shots. I promise that I have also been busy scrapbooking and working on some gret stuff but it must remain a secret until my open house!

Twitterpated

Wow,today has been jam packed with activities. I made bananna bread, sewed together all the squares for my 1st ever quilt, made this 2 page layout, six cards, made strawberry shortcake, and took care of my 4 little ones, cleaned my house, made meals, watched my husband cut wood, and went to camp to water my cows! I love it when when I get alot accomplished in a day, and it could also be that I will be in Syracuse shopping all day tommorrow and won't get anything done at home. Anywho here is a sneek at my new WOTG club projects for September using the new Twitterpated line. Can you say ADORABLE? Now I just have to find or take the perfect pictures. For all the details on this club come to my open house on August 29th or check my CTMH website next week. Have a great night.

Thankfullness

I had a minute so I thought I would share some quick thoughts on friendship. Last night I got to see my best friend Angie for the 1st time in about 8 mths, she recently moved to Virginia and came home for a visit. Shortly after Angie got here my next door Aubrey came over. Aubrey was bearing homemade bagels and a cream cheese and honey spread which I might add were delectable. Angie had brought with her a garbage bag full of scrapbooking stuff and 2 cases of glue sticks, among other things for my kids. As I was thinking about these two women in my life I was struck by how good God is to us. I have been blessed with some great friendships in this life and I am thankful for the great fellowship we had together. I hope only to be as good a friend as my friends are to me. I sometimes take my friendships for granted but I realized not everyone has been blessed with this gift as I have been. So to all my friends thank you and I appreciate you all!

My 1st decorative kitchen towels

Okay these turned out so much cuter in my head than they did in person oh well live and learn I guess. The turkey one I totally started sewing the orange strip on crooked so I thought oh well I will make it look like I did it on purpose. Maybe I will so on a felt pumpkin or do something to fix it up. Anyways I have been waiting all day for my new CTMH goodies to arrive and they are still not here, so I guess I will have to start dinner!

More Sewing!

Okay so I was really in the mood to sew today,
and I made a quick little trip to Jo-ann's. So I made an Americana Pillow, and table runner, and
I made a wall hanging for my mom for her birthday tommorrow-happy birthday mom! It was really easy because I cheated and bought pre
quilted material, then I just sewed the edges and sewed on tabs. Also another thank you to Aubrey who came over and taught me how to do a slip stich(I think) lol! Have I mentioned I love this new found hobby! However I just got a Quantum notice saying my new CTMH goodies will be here Thursday so I promise I will be posting some paper crafts very soon. For those of you who leave me comments I just wanted to say thank you, they really are a blessing and I truly appreciate them all. Have a great night!

Princess Pillow

Here is the front and back of my 1st pillow. I got this great fabric from my very generous neighbor who got it from her very generous mother. That whole family is a very big blessing to our family and I am very thankful the Lord put them right next door to us. Elaina was just giddy over the princess material, however it seems everything I have been making for her is pink and her bedroom is purple it looks as though I may be painting in the near future!

My 1st curtain

It's not very good but it will work! This is my daughters closet.

Back to creating

Whew, it feels like it has been forever since I have made anything with paper. This is the card box with 5 matching cards and magnet that I will be teaching at my class at the library on Tuesday night, I have 13 people coming so it should be alot of fun. I used CTMH'S Amore paper and the small Chocolate alphabet and Soul Mates word puzzle stamp sets. Well now that I have all my stuff prepared for my class maybe I can start creating again and I am anxiously awaiting my new goodies. When they get here I will have alot of work to do but I can not wait! Now I think I am off to sew a curtain for my girls bedroom!

I finished the blanket

Okay this is what I acomplished today, I finished Elaina's blanket. It's pretty small and if you look real close has alot of imperfections, however I have decided to go easy on myself and say I am somewhat impressed with how it turned out considering I don't know how to sew or how to make a blanket so this was my shot in the dark. Now my boys are very upset because they each want one for themselves, we do own about 700 blankets but it's not everyday mommy makes one. So I now I have to search for some John Deere fabric. On another note I got a sneek peek at the new CTMH Idea Book and all I can say is WOW! Each book is better than the last, and if you want your Free copy just show up at my open house on August 29th any time from 10:00am - 1:00pm. Now hopefully my next post will be of my newly painted house and some papercrafts. Also I would just like to say THANK YOU to all of our service men and women out there who sacrifice their lives for our freedoom everyday. My neighbor will be taking her husband to catch a flight tonight to go to desert training he will be gone for a month, and then another month in November and then a year in Dec or Jan. That is a long time to be apart from your loved ones. So again Thank You and God Bless You!

I'm back!

Whew I have not posted forever. It has been
crazy around here, with painting the house and
trying to get ready for Vacation Bible School, which by the way starts on Monday from 6-8 pm
at Cornerstone Baptist Church. We are doing Group publishings Crocodile Dock, we went to church last night to finish decorating, I will post
some pics next week. Hopefully after Wenesday things will slow down a bit, but then I will have
a ton of stuff to make to get ready for some
upcoming classes as well as my open house(more
details on my MYCTMH website on my calendar
of events) Anyways it was great to get some comments from Aubrey's mom and sister, so
nice to "meet" you both. Well thank's to Aubrey's inspiration I have wanted to do nothing but sew. Well since I don't really know how to so I have just been winging it. So for those of you that actually know how to sew please don't laugh at me. Anyways this is a little patchwork blanket I am working on for Elaina, it is pretty rough and not even close to even but I did it all by myself and I can visualize the finished product in my head. I have come to the realization that the only way for me to be able to sew correctly I have to practice and first screw up(alot) but it is how I will learn. So stick with me and we will see what I can come up with. Also in the next few weeks I will have lot's to post related to papercrafting and you all are going to be blown away by the new Idea Book it is amazing. Have a great weekend!
